About Mahdi Health Initiative
The Mahdi Health Initiative (MHI) is a faith-based group of health professionals belonging to the Shia Ithna-Asheri (KSI) communities in Tanzania.
MHI was established in 2016 by a group of health professionals who returned home (to Dar es Salaam) from their respective universities abroad, having just graduated. They saw the need to connect with other health professionals in the community with the goal to serve a bigger purpose.
MHI was born with the aim to create a platform where health professionals can interact with each other to grow and develop professionally, while also creating an impact on the health outcomes of the community and the Tanzanian public.
The MHI community is made up of a majority of health professionals from Dar es Salaam but also comprises of members from other KSI communities around Tanzania as well as internationally. It is a diverse group with members ranging from undergraduate & postgraduate students to experienced professionals engaged in various fields of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry and various Allied Health Sciences.
Serving Humanity is the central dogma and motto of the MHI and hence not only are various events organized to serve the communities at different levels, but every event organized by the MHI have this ultimate goal in sight.
MHI is governed by a core team, supported by two advisors and one patron. A new team is selected every year.
